Kakinada:
A private hospital in Kakinada was attacked by an angry mob after a 24-year-old patient died due to alleged medical negligence, police said today.
The incident took place yesterday at the hospital in Sarpavaram area after a dengue patient Ryali Pavan Kumar of Amalapuram died on Saturday night.
The mob ransacked the hospital and damaged the furniture, they said.
According to Kumar's family, the hospital authorities told them that he was alive till Sunday noon when he had in fact passed away a day before, allegedly due to poor medical attention.
However, doctors maintained that the patient was admitted with symptoms of dengue fever and loss of platelet counts. He was administered fresh platelets and given best medical care and there has been no negligence in treatment.
Later, the issue was settled amicably with the intervention of the police and elders who arranged a compromise between both parties.
