New Delhi: DMK Parliamentary Party Leader T R Baalu today complained about violation of Model Code of
Conduct in the campaign for Yercaud Assembly bye-election in Tamil Nadu.
Mr Baalu handed over to Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath a memorandum signed by the party's organisation secretary T K S Elangovan which said there have been violations of the Model Code by the state government and ruling AIADMK.
DMK claimed 32 ministers were campaigning in Yercaud and AIADMK was distributing bicycles and laptops in Thumbal and Vellalapatty areas, while the state administration was inaugurating new buildings.
The party demanded derecognition of AIADMK, besides withdrawal of its symbol under the EC's Symbol Order, 1968.
The bye-election has been necessitated to fill the vacancy caused by the death of AIADMK MLA C Perumal. Polling will be held on December 4.
