Thiruvananthapuram: A total of 17 persons have died so far due to rain-related incidents in Kerala since the onset of monsoon, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Wednesday.
An amount of Rs.1.5 lakhs would be given to families of those killed in rain-related incidents and Rs 1 lakh each to those whose houses were completely destroyed, Mr Chandy said during a cabinet briefing.
An amount of Rs.35,000 would be given to those whose houses were damaged partially, he said.
It has also been decided to provide free ration food articles to the affected persons for two weeks, Mr Chandy added.
