Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma

Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma on Sunday arrived at the eastern Naval command headquarters in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on a farewell visit.
During his three-day stay, Admiral Verma, who retires from Navy on August 31, will interact with defence civilians, officers and other Command personnel and review the Eastern Fleet at sea.
In his career spanning over four decades, Admiral Verma had worked in various capacities that include being the Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Personnel and Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) at Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) and Flag-Officer-Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area and Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command, a navy release said.
Admiral Verma, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), was commissioned in the Indian Navy in July 1970. He is a specialist in Communications and Electronic Warfare and is a graduate of the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich, UK and the US Naval War College, the release added.
