Puducherry government on Thursday dispensed with the system of gazetted officers attesting copies of cerificates of candidates applying for admission to educational institutions or for jobs in government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) or local and autonomous bodies.
An order of the Administrative Reforms wing in the Chief Secretariat here said that all government departments and undertakings should accept self attestation of certificates by candidates and that there should be no insistence on attestation by gazetted officers.
It said the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension had instructed the government to adopt the new system of self attestation by candidates instead of getting attestation by gazetted officers.
The candidates could produce the original certificates after they are finally admitted to educational institutions or selected for jobs for verification by the concerned authorities.
The government has also dispensed with the system of submission of affidavits by candidates seeking admission to educational institutes or seeking employment. They can submit self declaration in lieu of affidavits under the new system, it said.
