Kerala Home Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, has denied CPI(M) allegation that third degree methods were being used to intimidate party workers arrested in connection with the murder of RMP leader TP Chandarsekharan.
"There is no question of using third degree methods", the minister told reporters when his attention was drawn to the CPI(M) allegation.
Former state minister, Elamaram Kareem, told reporters at Kozhikode that CH Ashokan, CPI(M) Onchiyam area committee secretary, who had been arrested on Thursday was allegedly tortured by police.
Third degree methods, reminiscent of the torture during emergency in police camp at Kakkayam, were being used against party activists to admit guilt, he said.
Denying the allegation, DGP, Jacob Punnoose said that the probe in the case was going ahead in a scientific manner and no third degree methods were being used against those arrested.
If there are any complaints it would be looked into, he said.
