Chennai:
Tamil Nadu government is starting renovations in various judicial buildings at a cost of Rs 22 crore.
Making a statement in the Assembly, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said "maintenance works in courts at George Town, Saidapet, Egmore and the court of small cases in the Madras High Court campus would be undertaken at a cost of Rs 22 crore to conserve their heritage".
She said work would soon commence for building an Integrated Judicial Campus in Villupuram district.
"The Integrated Judicial campus would come up over 8.15 acre-land in Jakkampettai village on Tindivanam Main Road at a cost of Rs 17.31 crore," she said.
This campus would ensure residential quarters for judges and own buildings for eight courts, which are now functioning in rented premises in Villupuram district, she said.
