Bangalore:
Working in Government hospitals across Karnataka was today crippled following en masse resignation by more than 4,000 doctors to press for their demands including wage revision.
"About 4,500 doctors in various parts of the state today submitted their resignations to their respective District Health Officers demanding that district hospitals which have been taken over by the Medical Education department be handed back to the districts", Mr Srinivas, Secretary, Karnataka State Medical Officers' Association told PTI.
Other demands include incentives be merged with the basic salaries and pay anomalies in comparison to those of the doctors under the Medical Education Department, be rectified.
Meanwhile, Medical Education Minister Arvind Limabali has assured members of the Association that their demands would be put forth before Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar at a meeting convened with their representatives on August 9.
Mr Limbavali has also appealed to the doctors to take back their resignations.
