Tuticorin:
Central Excise Department has detected tax evasion of Rs 2.63 crore in a fertiliser
manufacturing company in Tuticorin, officials said today.
Officials said a excise team detected the evasion while conducting surprise check in the company.
Investigation revealed diversion of Naphtha, given under Duty Free Scheme,for some other purpose.
About 3,000 tonnes of Naphtha had not been accounted for, officials said.
Company sources said they would pay Rs 25 lakh immediately, and the balance soon.
