Udhagamandalam:
A carton containing fresh pork led to panic for some time among passengers and crew of a Coimbatore-Gudalur bus in Udhagamandalam today.
As the bus reached this town, some passengers started complaining of a foul smell emanating from the bus, but the crew attributed it to rotten vegetables or other eatables, police said.
However, as the bus neared Talakunda, passengers noticed blood flowing from under a seat and some of them screamed, resulting in the driver stopping the bus and calling police.
On being informed, some forest department officials at a check post also arrived at the spot, along with police, they said.
The officials opened the box with care and found the pork inside.
The carton had been under the seat without the knowledge of the crew, police said after questioning the conductor and driver.
