Bangalore: Karnataka High Court on Monday adjourned to September 17 hearing of the bail petition filed by French diplomat Pascal Mazurier, arrested on charges of raping his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

Justice H N Nagamohan Das adjourned further hearing of the petition to September 17 after the government sought time to file rejoinder to the objections filed by Mr Pascal's counsel to the application filed by the diplomat's wife Suja Jones impleading herself as the second respondent in the case.

Counsel for Mr Pascal, S Mahesh had earlier filed objections to the application filed by Suja Jones.

Meanwhile, counsel for Suja Jones, Pramila Nesargi, met City Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji to request him to appoint a new investigating officer in the case as soon as possible as the current Investigation Officer has been promoted and a chargesheet has to filed in the case by September 14.

Mr Mirji then informed her that Venkata Swamy has been appointed as the new Investigation Officer in the case replacing Mr Devaraj.

Pramila Nesargi speaking to reporters later said "medical report will remain crucial evidence and if necessary she will request another round of fresh DNA samples to be sent to FSL Hyderabad for tests".

Ms Nesargi said Suja Jones was "disappointed with the way the probe was being carried out. There is no support from the French Consulate also".

Pascal Mazurier, Consular Attaché to the Consulate General of France in Bangalore, had moved the High Court on August 7 seeking bail.

Mr Pascal, in his petition, had pointed out that as per the report of the test conducted by the Forensic Sciences Laboratory (Bangalore), his DNA profile did not match with that of the child.

On July 27, Fast Track Court-I had rejected his plea for bail while observing that "though DNA test has not tallied with the DNA profile of the accused, bail cannot be granted to him only on this ground."

Mr Pascal was arrested on June 19 after police booked him for raping his daughter based on a complaint filed by his wife.
