A still photographer was arrested here today for allegedly raping and cheating an aspiring actress on the pretext of getting her a lead role in a movie, police said.
Jinson Lonappan was arrested based on a complaint by the woman, a dentist in her early 20s, that he had raped her and had also taken Rs 33 lakh for ensuring a role in the film, they added.
Jinson, who has worked as an assistant still photographer for a Malayalam movie, has been charged under IPC sections related to rape, criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The incident occurred in March and the woman approached the police yesterday after realising that she was being cheated by Lonappan.
