Hyderabad:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is in Hyderabad today for the inauguration of ministerial session at a global biodiversity conference.
The PM inaugurated the session at the United Nations conference on bio-diversity, which began last week, at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC).
Security has been stepped up in the city as pro-Telangana groups have threatened to hold protests over the statehood demand. Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy and other senior officers reviewed the security arrangements and inspected the venues where Dr Singh will visit.
They took stock of security measures at Begumpet Airport, HICC and Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. The arrangements are being monitored by the SPG, a senior police officer said.
The Prime Minister will also unveil a pylon at Gachibowli and lay the foundation stone for a biodiversity park and museum before leaving for Delhi.
The police have announced traffic restrictions from Begumpet to Gachibowli during the PM's visit.
