Udhagamandalam: A pony which fell into a 20-foot well was rescued by the public and fire service personnel after a four hour effort, police said.
The pony, which took shelter near a house from heavy rains accidentally, fell into the well in front of the house. The house owner noticed it this morning and informed the fire service department.
As the attempt to bring it up by tying ropes failed, fire service personnel, with the help of the public widened the well and after breaking the side walls, brought out the pony. The pony was used to take people for rides near the boat house, police said.
