Postman fails to deliver mails for four months; probe ordered

Ramanathapuram: The Ramanathapuram postal superintendent on Friday ordered a probe into the action of the Sambai Gramam Postman in not delivering various postal items including registered letters, ordinary letters and even money orders for the last four months, officials said.

He ordered the postman's suspension after a departmental inquiry. He said that action would be taken against the Postman after the receipt of the report

The items that were not delivered included even employment orders and interview cards.

The postman, Ramanathan, had not delivered pension amount for four villages under his beat and had told people that they did not get any letters, officials said.

The undelivered letters were noticed among some bushes in Uvadankudi village when the people were clearing them under the 100-day employment scheme.

As many as 42 registered letters and 160 ordinary posts were found in a bush following which village president Ladasamy lodged a complaint with the Postal superintendent Soman.
