Prisoners in Tamil Nadu jail end fast after talks

Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu: Eleven prisoners including convicts and remand prisoners who were on fast for the last few days demanding direct supply of groceries to them from the store room instead of kitchen ended their fast today following talks with the prison officials.

Police said the prisoners in special cell of the central prison were provided groceries including rice and pulses instead of cooked food from the prison kitchen for the past several years.

Two days back they went on fast demanding that they should be given groceries from the store room, instead of kitchen.

After holding talks with the officials they withdrew the fast today.
