Pro-Telangana outfits to launch statehood protests from August 11

Hyderabad: The pro-Telangana outfits have decided to re-launch their agitation from August 1 to step up the demand for creation of the separate state.

The separatist outfits that met in Hyderabad on Saturday decided to organise a 'Chalo Hyderabad' programme in a big way on September 30 after taking up a series of protest programmes from August 1.

The proponents of the separate state that met under the aegis of a Joint Action Committee declared that they were totally against the creation of "Rayala Telangana" state by merging two districts of Rayalaseema with the ten districts of Telangana.

The JAC decided to primarily target the ruling Congress for "betraying" people of the region on the Telangana statehood issue.

"We can never trust Congress. It never kept its word on creation of a separate state. We have to decimate it totally. We have to bury the Congress by next elections (in 2014)," the JAC leaders told reporters at the end of their meeting.

The JAC was also critical of the Telugu Desam Party for adopting a "dual stand" on the statehood issue.

The JAC suggested that Congress leaders from the region use the ensuing Presidential election as an opportunity for securing a favourable decision on Telangana state.

Interestingly, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the Bharatiya Janata Party that once were the key members of the virtually defunct JAC were left out of the meeting attended by some little-known organisations and some "employees associations" took part in the conclave.
