Hyderabad: In a new twist to the suicide case involving a professor of a private institute in Hyderabad, his two minor sons whom he had taken along with him were found buried in an open land in Medchal in Hyderabad on Monday, police said.
Police suspect that the professor identified as Raghvendra Guruprasad (45) might have killed them before committing suicide by laying his neck on the rail line near James Street railway station on Sunday.
"During the course of investigation, the bodies of two boys, aged 9 and 5, both sons of Guruprasad, were dug out from a plot," Malkajgiri station police inspector G Shekar Goud told PTI.
However, it is not clear yet how they were killed.
"We suspect that the professor might have killed them. More details, including the cause of the boys' death, will be known only on receipt of postmortem report," the officer said.
Guruprasad and his wife were staying separately after the latter had filed a case of harassment against him and he had been visiting his two sons once a week as per directions of a local court.
"Based on cell phone call data records, police found that Guruprasad had taken his sons to Medchal, where he owns a plot, after picking them up from his wife who is an IT employee, on Saturday," Goud said.
While Guruprasad is staying in Alwal, his wife in Malkajgiri area in Secunderabad.
According to police, the professor came and took his two sons along with him on Saturday and his body was found on tracks on Sunday.
"On getting this information his wife went to his house (in Alwal), but could not find their children, following which she approached Malkajgiri police complaining that her two sons have gone missing," Goud had said on Sunday.
Meanwhile, according to a senior police officer, Guruprasad had sent an SMS to his wife before killing himself, but it was not delivered.
"Police also found a seven-page suicide note, purportedly written by Guruprasad. In the note, he addressed to the Ministry of Home Affairs claiming that he is innocent in the harassment case," said DCP A R Srinivas.
