Puducherry Government To Give Award For Cleanest Village
Award for cleanest village in Puducherry is to recognise efforts of people making their hamlet clean
Puducherry: Puducherry will institute award for the cleanest village in the Union Territory, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said here today.

This is to recognise efforts of the villagers in making their hamlet clean and hygienic. The award will be presented during the Republic Day celebrations, she said at a meeting with the residents of Veerampattinam village.

Ms Bedi has been visiting rural areas in the weekends as part of her "Swachh Puducherry Mission".

Stressing on the need to segregate solid waste at source and make the environment clean and hygienic, she said, this will have a cascading effect on conserving the funds spent for cleaning. The funds can be used for various socio-economic developmental projects.

Earlier, she visited Uruvayaru and Kanuapet villages in Villianoor commune panchayat limits.
