Chennai : The Railway ministry has given approval for the Rs 300 crore new line project between Thanjavur and Pattukottai in Tamil Nadu.
This was conveyed by Railway Minister P K Bansal to DMK Parliamentary Party Leader T R Baalu, who is also the Chairman of Standing Committee on Railways.
The 47 km new line via Orathandu was a long pending demand which would benefit many sections of the society, including students and farmers. It would interlink coastal districts of Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam and could be extended upto Rameswaram on completion, Mr Baalu said in a statement on Wednesday.
