Chennai:
Two international flights bound for Chennai were diverted to Bangalore airport after they could not land here following heavy rains on Thursday.
A Sri Lankan Airlines flight from Colombo and an Oman Airways flight with 145 and 160 passengers, respectively were scheduled to land at the Anna International Terminal around
3.30 pm, airport sources said.
However, due to heavy rain and strong winds that lashed the airport area for nearly half-an-hour, Air Traffic Controller ordered the flights to proceed to Bangalore.
After circling the airport for some time, the flights were diverted to Bangalore, the sources said, adding both landed here at around 7 pm.
