Rameswaram:
The inaugural service of Madurai-Tirupati Express train extended up to Rameswaram was flagged off on Monday.
The Rameswaram-Tirupati Express train would also be operated tri-weekly. The train will leave Tirupati on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays and Rameswaram on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
State Handlooms and Textile Minister S.Sundararaj, who flagged off the train, urged Railways to operate a day train between Madurai and Rameswaram and introduction of one more passenger train between the two places.
He also sought restoration of the service between Rameswaram and Coimbatore.
