Rangasamy seeks Centre's help for Puducherry's development plans

Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Monday and urged them to ensure that the Union Territory was provided abundant assistance for its development.

Mr Rangasamy, who was in Delhi to finalise Puducherry's Annul Plan for 2012-13 with Planning Commission officials, met Ms Gandhi and the Prime Minister, an official release here said today.

He sought their cooperation for sanction of copious assistance for Puducherry.

He also informed them of the support of his party AINRC to the UPA Presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee.

The release said Mr Rangasamy also met Petroleum Minister Jaipal Reddy and the Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and urged them to ensure sufficient natural gas for the power plant operated by Puducherry Government in Karaikal.

The Planning Commission has pegged the allocation to Puducherry at Rs 3,000 crores for the fiscal 2012-13.
