Kannur, Kerala: In a barbed comment at CPI(M) in the backdrop of the recent murder of an RSS activist in Kannur, a senior CPI leader today said that his party would not justify political murders and the issue would be raised in the state committee of the LDF.
"There is no justification for murder in politics. All parties should agree to this. This is especially so for the Left parties," CPI state secretary Panniyan Raveendran told reporters in Kannur, adding, issue would be raised in the LDF panel when it meets next time.
Manoj, a district office bearer of RSS, was hacked to death allegedly by CPI(M) activists at Kathirur near Thalassery on September 1.
Police have arrested two persons, including the main suspect who carried out the killing and another who harboured the killer before his arrest, and issued a lookout notice for another.
All of them are said to have connections with CPI(M). The inquiry into the conspiracy behind the murder has been referred to the CBI with BJP and RSS pressed for such a probe.
Kannur has a long history of political violence involving CPI(M) and RSS-BJP and several lives have been lost on both sides over the last few decades.
