Bangalore:
The nine-month-old D V Sadananda Gowda-led BJP Ministry in Karnataka would be expanded soon, state unit party President K S Eshwarappa said today.
"The ministry will be expanded in ten or fifteen days. New faces will be inducted and some senior ministers are expected to be drafted for party work", he told reporters in Bangalore.
Mr Eswarappa said there would also be changes in portfolios of some ministers and some may get additional charge.
Currently there are eleven ministerial vacancies in the state against its permitted strength of 34 ministers and Mr Gowda is handling at least 20 additional departments.
Mr Eswarappa said the BJP central leadership was expected to give its nod for the ministry expansion, for which several aspirants have been waiting.
The state BJP chief said he did not find fault with the on-going signature campaign by Ministerial aspirants demanding expansion of the ministry.
Mr Gowda, on a three-day visit to Delhi leading an all-party delegation seeking central aid for drought relief, would also seek BJP high command permission for the ministry expansion.
The party has put on hold the exercise apprehending trouble particularly in the wake of campaign by Mr Gowda's predecessor B S Yeddyurappa to regain the chief ministership, which he was forced to quit in July RPT July last year.
