Visakhapatnam: The district administration has made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the second phase of panchayat elections in Visakhapatnam and Narsipatnam divisions to be held today.
The polling will be held from 7 am to 1 am and the counting of votes will begin from 2 pm.
Out of 116 panchayats in Visakhapatnam revenue division consisting of six mandals, candidates for eight panchayats had been elected unanimously and elections will be held for the remaining 108 panchayats.
In Narsipatnam division, out of 238 panchayats, candidates for 21 panchayats had been elected unanimously and polling will be conducted for 217 panchayats today.
Visakhapatnam district collector V Seshadri at a review meeting on Thursday directed the mandal officials to visit the booths in their respective mandals to ensure smooth conduct of the polls and prevent any untoward incidents.
A control room was set up at the collectorate and the mandal officials have to send reports regularly on the situation in their respective areas.
The collector directed the officials to make arrangements for web casting and videography in sensitive and highly sensitive polling centres.
