After keeping them on a long wait, the Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday finally promoted several Indian Police Service officers to the ranks of Inspectors General and Deputy Inspectors General of Police and gave them new postings in a reshuffle involving 19 officers.
P V Sushil Kumar (1993 batch), who has been waiting for a posting, has been made the IGP of AP Special Protection Force.
Kumar Vishwajeet (1994 batch) has been promoted to the rank of IGP and posted to the Crime Investigation Department while B Shivdhar Reddy of the same batch too has been promoted to the IGP rank and retained in the Anti-Corruption Bureau as its Director.
Soumya Mishra (1994 batch) has been promoted and posted as IGP (Law and Order) in the office of the Director General of Police.
The promotions were effected through a Government Order on Saturday evening.
This was the first Government Order issued by the new Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew after assuming charge yesterday.
V C Sajjanar of 1996 batch has been transferred out of the Counter-Intelligence wing and posted as DIG of the Special Intelligence Branch(SIB) that deals with Maoist-related issues. The SIB chief post has been lying vacant for about two months following the transfer of Shivdhar Reddy.
N Suryanarayana (1997) has been shifted to the AP Power Generation Corporation as the Chief Vigilance and Security Officer.
Seven IPS officers of the 1998 batch have been elevated to the rank of DIG while three others of the same batch have been left out in the current round as "there are no vacancies".
Vikram Singh Mann, a direct recruit officer of the 1998 batch, has been posted as DIG of Warangal Range in the vacancy existing for many months now.
The other officers of the batch promoted to DIG rank with their new postings are: B Srinivasulu (Counter-Intelligence), P Umapathi (Joint Managing Director, Vigilance, Power Transmission Corporation of AP), P Bheea Naik (DIG, Karimnagar Range), E Damodar (DIG, CID), B Balakrishna (DIG, Intelligence Security Wing) and B Malla Reddy (DIG, AP Special Police Battalions).
A Sunder Kumar Das, M Shiva Prasad and A Ravichandra have not been promoted but given new postings as Deputy Director of AP Police Academy, DCP Cyberabad Traffic and Assistant Inspector General Law and Order (DGP office) respectively.
M Naganna has been posted as DCP (City Armed Reserve) while D Nagendra Kumar has been posted as Superintendent of Police, Mahbubnagar district.
Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary also issued another order posting M Girija Shankar of 2001 IAS batch as Collector and District Magistrate of Mahbubnagar in place of M Purushottam Reddy, who retired from service on Saturday.
