Salem:
An employee of a jewellery shop has been arrested for theft of gold ingots valued at Rs 75 lakh about three months back, police said.
They said that the employee had reported the theft of ingots while returning to Omalur with the ingots purchased from a jewellery shop in Thiruvananthapuram on February 19. Police grew suspicious after both the driver and the conductor said that they had not stopped anywhere during the journey.
On being questioned, the man confessed to having packed the ingots in a plastic bag and buried it at a spot near a factory at Omalur, they said.
