Six Suspected Naxalites Detained Under National Security Act

Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu: Six suspected Naxalites, who were recently arrested in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, were today detained under the National Security Act.

District Collector K Vivekanandan issued the order today to detain the six men.

Investigations had found that the six, who were arrested on June 28 and lodged in Salem Central Jail, had allegedly received training from Maoists in neighbouring states, said the police.

Based on those reports, Dharmapuri Superintendent of Police Asra Garg recommended that they be detained under the NSA.

They had planned to conduct a training camp, said the police.

The six persons were arrested from Natham colony in Dharmapuri.

Police had also seized two country-made guns and several country-made bombs.

Following the arrest of the six persons, a special police team had arrested one Thiruppathi of Natham colony in connection with the case.
