Kochi:
Kerala High Court today reserved orders on the bail petition of television actress and former Censor Board member Shalu Menon, who was arrested in connection with the Solar Panel scam.
The order in this regard was issued by Justice SS Sateeshchandran on the bail application by Ms Menon, who was arrested earlier this month on a complaint by Mr Rafique Ali, who claimed that she had accompanied another accused Biju Radhakrishnan when he collected over Rs 70 lakh from him.
Opposing the bail plea, Director General of Prosecutions (DGP) T Asaf Ali said there was 'ample evidence' to show that Ms Menon was involved in the case. She had directly received Rs 46 lakh.
The DGP also said that the actor had received gifts worth several lakhs from Biju Radhakrishnan.
The actor's counsel had earlier submitted that she had not received any unlawful amounts in connection with the solar deal. Her assets are made out of her dance school, acting and dance programmes. She said she had purchased a car from a private financial agency.
Her bail plea had earlier been rejected by a lower court in Thiruvananthapuram.
