Thiruvananthapuram:
With the Opposition demanding his resignation over the Solar Scam, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has made it clear that he will not quit because of any political conspiracy.
"People want UDF to rule," Mr Chandy told NDTV.
Mr Chandy said that the Opposition was only targeting him because of political rivalry, whereas his party is committed to ensure that everyone who is wrong needs to be punished.
"There is an impartial investigation going on. Opposition should wait for the results and then raise the issue. Right now by repeated adjournments of the Assembly, they are only running away from any possible real discussions," he said.
Known for his transparency and an open-door policy to his office, the Chief Minister said that despite his name being 'misused' he would not change his style of functioning.
The scam relates to Sarita Nair, Biju Radhakrishnan and Shalu Menon, all arrested, duping several businessmen of crores of rupees, allegedly through their political connections.
Leaked call records suggest they have been hob-nobbing with several politicians of the ruling party, and had frequent call transactions from the Chief Minister's Office and used the Chief Minister's name to assure business clients.
Dismissing reports of rifts within Congress in Kerala, Chief Minister reiterated that UDF is standing united.
