Rameswaram:
A special sub-inspector and a constable were today booked for allegedly assaulting a Doordarshan reporter following an altercation between them.
ADSP Velladurai said a case has been registered against SSI Murgaboothi and constable Senthil of the town police station in Rameswaram and they have been transferred to the Armed
Reserve Police pending inquiry.
Initial departmental inquiry revealed that the altercation took place at a tea shop over placing some chairs.
The reporter, Karthikeyan, in his complaint alleged that the police personnel hit him on the nose and then took him to the station where he was thrown against a wall. Karthikeyan, who suffered head injury, has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital at Ramanathapuram, police said.
