Rameswaram:
A court in Sri Lanka today ordered the release of ten Tamil Nadu fishermen who were taken into custody by Sri Lankan Navy on July one, a top fisheries official said.
The Fishermen and their boats will be handed over to the Indian Coast Guard at the International Maritime boundary line today or tomorrow, Assistant Director of Fisheries A. Karithikeyan told reporters in Rameswaram.
The fishermen, who sailed from Rameswaram, had strayed into the Sri Lankan waters due to strong winds and rough sea.
Mannar Judicial Magistrate Anthony Pillai Jutesen warned the fishermen to be careful in future before ordering their release, he said.
