Rajahmundry : The proposal to shift the Rajahmundry central jail to Jaggampeta is being considered by the state government, Rajahmundry MP Undavalli Arun Kumar told reporters in Rajahmundry on Wednesday.
Shifting the central jail would enable housing to the poor, construction of an agricultural college, Nannaya University buildings and an indoor stadium at Rajahmundry.
Shifting of the jail would be done without affecting archaeological monuments in its jail premises, he said.
He said that the rail-cum-road bridge was not meant for national highway capacity and heavily loaded vehicles were the cause of repairs. Instructions were given to both East and West Godavari district officials not to allow heavy vehicles on the bridge, he said.
