Tiruvarur (Tamil Nadu): A college student on Thursday murdered his lover by slitting her throat when she refused to marry him, police said.
The 22-year-old man then inflicted cut injuries on himself and surrendered to the police.
The 16-year-old girl was studying at a government higher secondary school near Tiruvarur. She had left her house along with the man recently but her parents managed to locate her and persuaded her to return.
Angered by her sudden indifference to him besides refusing to marry him and saying she would listen only to her parents, the man called her to a nearby field and slit her throat, killing her on the spot.
