Bangalore: Two persons, including a police officer, were today arrested by Lokayukta police for allegedly accepting bribe for official favour.
Sub-Inspector Shivamada and another person were caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant Sheikh Abdullah, Lokayukta police said.
A criminal case has been registered under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988, police said.
Sources said Shivamada had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for release of Adbullah's brother who had been taken to the police station for questioning in a theft case but settled for Rs 15,000.
In another case, two persons including Divisional Controller (West) HS Mallikarjunaiah, were arrested by Lokayukta police for allegedly accepting Rs 5000 as bribe from a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation driver who was seeking transfer, sources said.
