To watch the traffic and prevent any criminal activities in important roads, district police will erect 15 surveillance cameras in important places.
The Tamil Nadu Government has sanctioned Rs 40 lakh for development of traffic in Erode town, official sources said.
Special control rooms with computers and other equipment would also be opened at important places, from where police would watch movement of traffic, they said. Any criminal activity like theft of vehicles and snatching would also be monitored in the camera from the control room.
The erection of cameras would be completed within two to three weeks, the sources added.
