Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit today urged people of the state to take a pledge to protect and preserve the integrity and glory of India as a peceful nation.
In her Independence Day greetings to the people, she said this was not only an occasion for all to pay regards and respect to the nation's leaders, but also to pledge to protect and preserve the integrity and glory of India as a peceful nation.
"The peaceful and disciplined manner in which India won Independence under fredom fighters has been written in golden letters in the annals of history', she said.
"Our first thoughts go to the great leaders and their patriotic followers who struggled and fougt for freedom under the unique and inspiring guidance of Mahatma Gandhi which believers in the well-being of all its citizens', she added.
