Tamil Nadu assembly session to continue till October 30

Chennai: The ongoing session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly will be held till October 30, Speaker P Dhanapal said today.

The government would present the first supplementary estimates for the year 2013-14 during the session, he told reporters.

Various bills would also be taken up, Dhanapal said after chairing a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) which decides the duration of the session.

Earlier, the House was adjourned for the day in respect of Yercaud legislator Perumal (AIADMK), who died recently. The members observed silence following an obituary reference by the Speaker.

The Tamil Nadu Assembly meets at a time when the chorus in the state for India's boycott of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Sri Lanka in the light of the ethinc Tamils issue, is growing.

PMK and VCK have demanded for a resolution in this regard in the Assembly even as ruling AIADMK and DMK have already asked the Centre to stay away from CHOGM, scheduled next month.
