Tamil Nadu government to spend Rs 100 crore for college infrastructure

Chennai: Infrastructure and basic amenities in 93 government and university constituent colleges in Tamil Nadu would be improved at a cost of Rs 100 crore, the state Assembly was informed today.

Making a suo motu statement, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said, "From the allotment of Rs 100 crore, works to procure basic and laboratory furniture for students and teachers and equipment for language labs would be done."

Besides, the funds would also be used for acquiring books, book racks and furniture for departmental libraries, she said adding basic amenities like providing clean drinking water, canteen, and lighting facilities would also be undertaken.

Tamil Nadu presently has 62 government arts and science, seven educational and 24 university constituent colleges.
