Tamil Nadu govt allocates Rs 15 crore for various schemes in police department

Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today announced allocating over Rs 15 crore towards various initiatives in the police department, including creating an additional Armed Reserve police division in Ariyalur district.

The Chief Minister allocated Rs 9.32 crore for the construction of barracks at Kamudhi in Ramanathapuram district, which will house 500 personnel, 250 men and 250 women, a state government release in Chennai said.

She also sanctioned a 64-member division of armed reserve personnel to the existing three divisions in Ariyalur, besides sanctioning 26 more personnel to the local headquarters and allocated Rs 2.93 crore for the purpose.

Jayalalithaa also cleared a proposal to create 558 conservancy staff posts in police stations across the state for their maintenance and allocated Rs 2.75 crore for this purpose, the release added.
