Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu: Residents in Tamil Nadu's Rajapalayam town have cautioned municipal officials after a stray dog turned violent and ended up biting around 45 people.
The affected people were rushed to the local government hospital for emergency first aid treatment. Some of them were taken to the Rajaji Government Hospital in Madurai, about 80 km from the town, police said.
People of several adjoining localities including Lakshmiyapuram, Kammapatti and Sankaran Kovil Villakku were also bitten by the dog. It is uncertain if the dog is rabid.
Efforts are on by the district municipal officials to catch the dog, which ran away and cannot be found.
