Hyderabad: A team of Andhra Pradesh CID on Friday took a software engineer, wanted by US authorities for murder of his wife and two children, to Delhi for producing him before a court there on Saturday with regard to extradition.

Metropolitan Magistrate's court in Delhi on March 26 had issued production warrant against Nerusu Lakshminivasa Rao, asking police to produce him on April 6 for processing of his extradition to US.

In February, state CID arrested Rao, a native of Gudigunta village in Vuyyuru mandal of Krishna district, against whom arrest warrant issued by District Court at County of Oakland in the state of Michigan, US, is pending.

He is accused of killing his wife Jayalakshmi, son Siva (12) and daughter Tejasvi (14) at their house in Novi, Michigan, in October 2008.

Later, he fled from US, said Additional Director General of Police T Krishna Prasad. US Police and FBI informed the Interpol and issued Red Corner Notice.

After his arrest in Andhra Pradesh, he was remanded in judicial custody by a local court at Nampally. Currently, he is in Central Prison of Chanchalguda in Hyderabad.

On March 26, Ministry of External Affairs designated the Delhi court to inquire into Rao's case under the Extradition Act, 1962.
