Salem:
Three teenaged girls were tied to a lamp post and brutally beaten up by a group of people for allegedly stealing Rs 1,000 from a textile shop in Salem in Tamil Nadu.
The girls were caught, tied to a lamp post and thrashed before they were rescued by police and taken to a hospital.
According to police, the girls had come to the shop a few days back to receive clothes they had given for stitching. But the owner denied seeing the girls at his shop before. He claimed that when he went to check with her wife, the girls stole Rs 1,000 from the cash box and fled.
The owner of the shop told police that since the stolen amount was meager, he did not file a complaint. But this morning, when he spotted the girls in the area, he alerted local people who caught the victims and beat them up.
