Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh secretariat employees from Seemandhra, who were on strike for over a month to protest against the state's bifurcation, today called off their stir following "fruitful" talks with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The move came close on the heels of power sector employees and teachers withdrawing their strikes.
Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Seemandhra Employees Forum, which spearheaded the stir, said they had "fruitful" talks with the Chief Minister over the issues raised by them and hence they are temporarily calling off their agitation.
"We are withdrawing from the indefinite strike temporarily based on the assurance given by Chief Minister that they will defeat the resolution (for division) of the state in the Assembly," Forum chairman U Murali Krishna said at the end of the talks.
The secretariat employees were on an indefinite strike for the past 38 days.
"We will resume the strike if there is any forward movement on (creation of separate) Telangana," Mr Krishna warned.
