Hyderabad:
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has decided to move no-confidence motion against Congress government in Andhra Pradesh during the budget session of the state assembly, starting today.
The decision to move the no-confidence motion was taken on Monday at TRS legislature party meet, presided over by party chief K Chandrasekhara Rao. He told reporters that the TRS was in touch with other opposition parties to seek their support for the no-confidence motion.
The TRS has also approached Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), which withdrew support to Congress government in November last year.
MIM, which has seven members in 295-member assembly, had bailed out the government in 2011 when the main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had tabled the no-confidence motion.
KC Rao, as the TRS chief is popularly known, said his party was keen to bring down the Congress for its "betrayal" of the Telangana people. He said the party would insist on its demand for passing a resolution for carving out Telangana state.
Congress has 146 members in the assembly as the ruling party suspended nine legislators recently for switching loyalties to YSR Congress party.
It needs support of 148 members to survive the no-trust vote. Congress is confident of defeating the motion with the support of couple of independents.
TDP has 86 members and TRS and YSR Congress Party 17 each.
