Hyderabad:
Actress Anjali, who starred in several Tamil and Telugu movies, has gone missing from a hotel in the posh Jubilee Hills area in Hyderabad, police said on Tuesday.
Anjali has gone missing from the hotel since Monday morning and her mobile phone was also in switch-off mode, they said, based on a complaint lodged by Ravi Shankar, the brother of the actress.
Police said that they have registered a missing case and investigating the matter.
Anjali acted in hit Tamil film 'Engaeyum Eppothum' and 'Angaadi Theru' besides the multi-starrer Telugu movie 'Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu'.
Anjali had on Monday reportedly called some Tamil media houses and complained that her aunt, Bharati Devi and Tamil film director Kalanjayam, were abusing her and using her like an ATM.
Kalanjayam had launched Anjali in Tamil films and Bharati Devi had brought her from her native village in rural Andhra Pradesh to Chennai when she was still in intermediate and helped her get a break in films. Anjali reportedly said she feared for her life.
Kalanjayam said Anjali had rebelled apparently because she was advised not to go to pubs or get used to life on the fast-street. He met the Chennai police commissioner and filed a complaint of defamation against Anjali.
Even as the two cases were filed, one of defamation in Chennai by the Tamil film director and another of her missing by her brother in Hyderabad, there were reports that Anjali was in Bangalore and would be going in for a shoot schedule on Wednesday.
