Ongole: Telugu Desam Party candidate Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy today won the Prakasam district's MLC election under local bodies quota.
Magunta bagged 724 votes while YSR Congress candidate Atla Chinna Venkata Reddy secured only 13 votes. Besides, 17 votes were declared invalid, returning officer Hari Jawaharlal said.
The counting began at the Ongole Municipal Corporation office and was completed in 45 minutes.
District Collector Sujatha Sharma, Superintendent of Police C Srikanth and the Returning Officer monitored the counting.
Later, Magunta thanked all those who supported him in the election.
"Our family is in public service for over 25 years.
Once again it is an opportunity for me to serve as MLC," he told reporters.
