Erode: Thousands of well grown dead fish were found floating in three ponds in Nanjundapuram village coming under Kadirampatty panchayat since Sunday, police said in Erode on Monday.
The ponds were taken on lease from the panchayat for rearing fish by one Nallasamy. He noticed dead fish floating on the water since yesterday and complained to police.
It was suspected that discharge of untreated effluent water by some textile printing industries in the area might have polluted the water resulting in the death of the fish.
