Hyderabad:
Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Chairman A Chakrapani on Saturday asked three Congress members facing disqualification proceedings to appear before him and individually present their case next week.
Member Legislative Council SV Mohan Reddy has been asked to come on May 8 while Pulla Padmavathi and Konda Murali have been told to present their case on May 11, official sources said in Hyderabad.
The Congress had submitted a petition to the Council Chairman on January 13 seeking disqualification of the three MLCs for defying the party and sailing with YSR Congress of Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
The three MLCs had been active supporters of Jagan and bad-mouthing the Congress leadership, including Sonia Gandhi, for over a year. However, Pulla Padmavathi "repented" and returned to the Congress fold in March.
Incidentally, Murali's wife Konda Surekha was disqualified as a member of the Legislative Assembly in March for siding with the YSR Congress.
